Set in the late 1960’s, Lucia is left behind with her grandmother while her parents emigrate to France to find work. Lucia is greatly distressed that she must stay in Italy and struggles to learn her role in the tiny, traditional village under the watchful guidance of her stern grandmother, who Lucia struggles to understand.

Unbeknownst to the young girl, her grandmother hides a hideous family secret which endangers Lucia’s well-being.

Filmed on the rugged and beautiful Sicilian coast, Alone With Her Dreams explores the universally timely themes of family separation, emigration, generational conflicts and feminine repression.

Based on the novel Picciridda – Con I Piedi Nella Sabbia by Catena Fiorello, the film was awarded with two Italian Golden Globes for Best First Feature and Best Original Score.

(Alone With Her Dreams) demonstrates a respect for women, young and old, who navigate the world without relying on men, and sometimes in defiance of their control.

The Hollywood Reporter

Captivating, and heartbreaking, yet with moments of warmth, energy, and release, Alone with Her Dreams is a stunning coming-of-age story that will linger long after the final scene fades.
