AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE
SAT 15 MARCH 2:00PM AEDT

Dir Anna Schmidt

Germany | 2023 | 113 min

Join us for a very special screening including a wonderful live performance  by the Amatori Choir.

There are more than 300 Bach choirs and Bach ensembles worldwide, most of which are made up of amateurs. For many, their lives are inextricably linked with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. What do people seek and find in his music? What connects them across continents? What fascination lies in the music of the famous German composer, which manages to transcend borders, cultures, religions and centuries?

An uplifting music fuelled journey through six continents to meet amateur musicians and singers who have made Bach’s music the soundtrack of their lives.

Directed by Ian Knowles, the Amatori Choir is one of the Northern Rivers most cherished community choirs. The choir will perform a Bach cantata and will invite the audience to join them singing a chorus from Bach's Christmas Oratorio.

Magnificent. A proof of Bach’s emotionalizing power for people across all countries and cultural borders, with the therapeutic side effects of such music.” - Süddeutsche Zeitung
